What is High Quality Modified PA ?

 

 

High-quality modified PA , also known as high-grade modified nylon, refers to a high-performance engineering plastic producing by taking virgin polyamide (PA, nylon) as the matrix resin, adding specific functional additives or fillers via physical blending or chemical modification processes, and undergoing rigorous formula design as well as precision granulation.


Its core feature is that on the basis of retaining the inherent advantages of virgin PA-such as high strength, excellent wear resistance and oil resistance-it can targetedly overcome the inherent drawbacks of virgin PA, including high water absorption, poor dimensional stability, insufficient low-temperature toughness and limited heat resistance, while meeting the stringent material performance requirements of high-end application fields.


Nylon plastic resin, chemically known as polyamide (abbreviated as PA), is a class of thermoplastic polymer resins with repeating amide groups (-CONH-) in the molecular backbone. It is also one of the earliest engineering plastics to be industrialized.

High-quality modified PA is developed by precision blending, filling or chemical modification of virgin PA. It retains PA's inherent wear resistance, oil resistance and high mechanical strength, while overcoming its natural drawbacks to deliver tailored performance for high-end applications.

  • Enhanced Mechanics: Glass/carbon fiber or mineral reinforcement boosts tensile strength to 200 MPa and flexural strength to over 250 MPa (2–3× that of virgin PA), with excellent fatigue and creep resistance for load-bearing parts like automotive engine brackets and gears.
  • Superior Dimensional Stability: Copolymerization or hydrophobic fillers cut water absorption to <1% (vs. 8–10% for virgin PA6), minimizing moisture-induced deformation for precision components such as electronic connectors and sensor housings.
  • Low-temperature Toughness: Elastomer modifiers (POE, EPDM, MBS) eliminate cold brittleness, maintaining impact resistance at -40°C for outdoor and cold-region automotive parts.
  • Improved Heat Resistance: Heat-resistant blends or glass fiber reinforcement raise heat deflection temperature (HDT) above 200°C, suitable for engine compartments, LED lamp holders and new energy vehicle battery parts.
  • Customizable Functions: Achieves UL94 V-0 flame retardancy, UV/ humidity resistance, and wear resistance (with PTFE/graphite) for diverse needs.
  • Reliable Processability: Stable melt flow and no filler agglomeration ensure consistent batch quality across injection molding, extrusion and blow molding.
