What is Colored ABS Granules ?

 

 

Colored ABS Granules is a type of colored plastic granule made from ABS resin (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) as the base material. Special colorants such as color pigments and color masterbatches are added during the granule production or modification process, followed by mixing, extrusion and pelletizing. It not only retains the excellent inherent properties of ABS, but also features customizable appearance colors.

Disadvantages
Higher Cost vs. Natural ABS,
Added colorants (pigments, masterbatches) and specialized coloring processes raise production costs, resulting in higher prices than uncolored natural ABS granules.
Minor Performance Impacts, Dark-colored variants may suffer reduced light and weather resistance due to heavy colorant loads. Long-term sunlight exposure can cause fading or accelerated aging, limiting use in weather-resistant outdoor products.


Tedious Color Switching
Production line color changes require thorough cleaning of molding equipment (injection machines, extruders) to prevent cross-contamination, consuming extra time and materials and disrupting production continuity.


Colorant Compatibility Risks
Incompatible colorants with ABS resin can cause poor dispersion, reduced mechanical properties, or even material decomposition during high-temperature processing.
